There are two new books in the library. One is for scholarships for students going to university, the other is for students applying to college. Both books are available to be signed out!

Simon Fraser University Scholarships
The Senate Policy Committee for Scholarships, Awards, and Bursaries at Simon Fraser University recently approved the following changes to SFU’s Entrance Scholarship program.
Changes to the SFU Automatic Entrance Scholarships
Effective Summer 2013, the following Automatic Entrance Scholarships for secondary school students will no longer be available -

Please note that for the 2013/14 academic year, the minimum competitive average required for the BC Secondary School Academic Excellence Entrance and International Academic Excellence Scholarships is 96.0%. For the IB Academic Excellence Entrance and IB International Academic Excellence Entrance Scholarships, the minimum IB points required is 34.
Changes to the SFU Major Entrance Scholarships (applied for)
Dean's Excellence Entrance Scholarship
Effective Summer 2013, the current Dean's Entrance Scholarship will be renamed the Dean's Excellence Entrance Scholarship. The value has been increased to $12,000 over 4 terms ($3,000 per term). Both domestic and international undergraduate students will be eligible. Students are required to fill out the Major Entrance Scholarship application and will be automatically considered for this and any other opportunities they meet the requirements for.
New Online Application System for Major Entrance Scholarships
A new online application system for SFU's Major Entrance Scholarships is expected to open in December. Please see our website (http://students.sfu.ca/financialaid.html
) in December for more details.
The deadline for our online application is February 28, 2013. Students must self-report their grades and have any required Admission documents (e.g. IELTS, TOEFL) received by this date. Self-reporting of grades opens December 15, 2012.
Please note that students who apply to the Beedie School of Business and our Major Entrance Scholarship Competition with the minimum 90% admission average are not required to fill out the Business broad-based admissions application. This Major Entrance Scholarship application will be provided to the Beedie School of Business and used in the admission process.

Community Living Meaford Scholarship - For residents of Meaford and Blue Mountain - Student should be enrolled in a Developmental Services Worker Program or Social Service or Social Science College program for the following school year. Visit the guidance office for more information and an application. Due April, 2013
J.Irvine Brown Continuing Education Award- Nomination deadline is May, 2013. This award is for students residing in the Owen Sound area to Saugeen Shores area. Student who are enrolled in a Developmental Service Worker College Program or Social Service Program will be given first consideration. Write a letter indicating your academic achievement and involvement in school/community activities, along with a commitment to supporting people developmental needs. Then, deliver this to the front office (Helen) at 769 4th Ave. East, Community Living.

Schulich Leader Scholarship:Students enrolled in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) at participating Canadian university. One student from the highschool is selected as the Schulich Leader Nominee. From this pool of nominees, 20 participating universities across Canada will choose one outstanding student to be their Schulich Leader, each of whom will recieve a four-year scholarship valued at $60,000 to suport their studies at that university in a STEM faculty. Mentorship Program for Healthcare.....
A mentorship program founded by the Ontario Medical School Association designed to help grade 12 students entering university that are interested in a career in health care (i.e., doctor, nurse, dentist, physiotherapist, etc.)
- Students are matched with a medical student mentor for a year who will help guide them through the tough hump of first year and the hard path to a career in the health care field
- Applications are due June 17th and students must have a high school educator or community leader fill out a referral form
